Elephant Parade Bangkok Raises THB 10 Million To Support Thai Elephants
After delighting locals and tourists alike for the last three months, Elephant Parade Bangkok came to a close last week.
About 100 brightly coloured elephants took over the streets of Bangkok and were showcased around major sites throughout Thailand’s capital as part of the country’s largest ever open air art exhibition.
Local and international artists and famous supporters of Elephant Parade Bangkok 2015 helped to design the 1.5 metre elephant statues to help paint a brighter future for the country’s national animal.
In an exciting climax to the parade, the elephants were auctioned off at a charity dinner raising over THB 10 million (about CAD 386,000) which will be donated to a variety of projects to help the plight of domestic and wild elephants throughout the Kingdom and beyond.
