There was exciting – and entertaining – news from Norwegian Cruise Line last week as the company’s president and CEO Andy Stuart announced an array of entertainment options expressly designed to launch on Norwegian Bliss for her inaugural season in Alaska beginning JUN 2018.
Here are the headlines about the headliner act and more:
The star act in the main theatre will be Jersey Boys, a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical showcasing the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and featuring hit songs such as “Sherry,” “Walk Like A Man,” Working My Way Back To You” and, as performed by the Jersey Boys live as Stuart announced the show, “Oh What A Night.” This is a huge win for Norwegian and it’s also the headliner of a new series of entertainment choices to be offered on this new ship, purpose-built for Alaskan voyages.
A sure favourite for Baby Boomers will be the Cavern Club lounge, harkening back to the early days of The Beatles in Liverpool. A Beatles tribute band will perform nightly, and no doubt there will be much singing along to iconic songs like Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane and Yellow Submarine.
One of the other innovative shows to premier on Norwegian Bliss will be Happy Hour Prohibition – The Musical. Created by well-known Broadway choreographers, this show focuses on the early 1920s era and includes some of that period’s most famous tunes such as “Let’s Misbehave,” “Happy Feet” and “Makin’ Whoopee.” Included in the show is a chance for guests to enjoy Prohibition-era cocktails as they watch. It sounds like something different, fun and sure to please.
Norwegian Bliss is the third Breakaway-Plus class ship and is being custom-built with features and amenities for the ultimate Alaska (and then a Caribbean) cruise experience.
More details will be revealed in future months, but a bigger and more expansive Haven at the top of the ship will be a big asset as will the 180-degree Observation Lounge offering great views of Alaska’s scenic vistas.
The ship sails from Seattle commencing next June and there is no doubt with this line-up (and more) that this ship will rock!
