Holland America Line has been forced to delay the launch date for its new-build ship Koningsdam.

Construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy was originally scheduled to be complete on 16FEB16, but has now been pushed back to 31MAR16.

The 99,500 gross-ton Koningsdam will be HAL's largest ship and includes a new hull design and an array of new venues and innovations.

The delay has also pushed back the ship's inaugural cruise - originally scheduled for 20FEB16. Koningsdam will now depart on its first cruise on 8APR16.

Holland America has offered onboard credit to pax booked on the original inaugural cruise who choose to take the delayed departure. For those who do not, or who are unable to make the new departure date, the line is offering a full refund.

The ship's official naming celebration remains as scheduled on 21MAY16 in Rotterdam. Between the delivery date and the 1 st sailing, the ship will be used for company events, according to the line.
