Crystal Juggernaut Continues: 2 More River Ships Announced

Open Jaw

Open Jaw was on-hand yesterday at Lloyd Werft Shipyard as Edie Rodriguez, president and CEO of Crystal, presided over a shipyard steel cutting ceremony to begin production of the line’s first 4 new-build luxury river yachts.

Crystal Debussy, Crystal Ravel, Crystal Mahler and Crystal Bach will embark on the rivers of Europe in summer 2017, boasting the sleek designs and plush amenities one would expect from this luxury line.

In the presence of Crystal parent company, Genting Hong Kong (GHK) Chairman and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, as well as Lloyd Werft Shipyard Managing Director Rüdiger Palletin, Rodriguez pressed the button that initiated the massive steel cutting machine to begin the river yachts’ construction.

“This seemingly simple act was an absolute thrill, as it represents a very important milestone in the growth of the Crystal brand,” said Rodriguez.

“It was my honour to stand with the leaders of our wonderful parent company and the acclaimed Lloyd Werft Shipyard, and to enjoy the support of the local community leaders, as we continue the process of ushering in the new era of Crystal with Crystal River Cruises.”

Rodriguez took the occasion to announce orders for 2 more river ships. By 2019, Crystal will be operating 7 river vessels – 6 new-builds and the Crystal Mozart, a refurbished ship that will hit the waters this July.

Features of the new-build ships will include:

  • 250 square-foot guest suites with walk-in wardrobes, king-size beds and bathrooms with double vanities
  • Two 500 square-foot Penthouse Suites with added comforts and conveniences
  • Spacious public areas, including Palm Court with dance floor and glass domed roof and a fitness center and spa
