Open Jaw had the opportunity to sample what your wealthy clients can expect to experience with Crystal Luxury Air, one of the many new projects to come out of Crystal as it becomes synonymous with the luxury travel experience.
During Crystal’s 24th annual Sales Gala event onboard Crystal Symphony, we broke off for a quick side trip to Germany for the official steel cutting ceremony for Crystal’s new river ships, the signing ceremonies commemorating Crystal parent Genting’s 10 ship, €3.5 billion order with the shipyards of Lloyd Werft and the opening of their new Design Centre in Bremerhaven. Our small group boarded Crystal’s Bombardier Global Express XRS jet (which had previously belonged to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy) for the side trip to northern Germany.
The aircraft is designed to carry just 12 pax in ultimate comfort. The plane is configured with 6 large single seats, 4 seats facing each other 2 abreast, as well as a couch that seats 2 comfortably. With Cristal champagne on ice, Nespresso coffee made to order and full hot breakfasts and a cold buffet available, there was little to want for.
Open Jaw had a chance to chat with Richard Ziskind, Crystal Luxury Air’s V.P. & Managing Director.
Ziskind says there is huge interest in the new Crystal Luxury Air service from those who need or prefer to fly private in conjunction with a Crystal cruise or other personal or business event.
With his depth of knowledge and experience in the private jet business and markets, Ziskind is a one-stop-shop for agents serving the upscale market. If Crystal's Global Express plane is not ideal for the client he can source other aircraft.
The base price is $8000/hr plus fees depending upon the operation or catering requests. And they can handle just about any request: one client recently flew to Paris for a business meeting and same-night return. His only special request was for Cinnabons for breakfast on his way home. Real Cinnabons, not just any cinnamon bun.
Ziskind managed to source a Parisian baker who was familiar with Cinnabons and prepared them specifically. The client was satisfied that they were the real deal.
What Crystal Luxury Air offers may not be the way most of us can fly. However, for some it not only makes sense to maximize their personal schedules but also to minimize the inconveniences that come with commercial flight these days.
Flying with Crystal Luxury Air means use of private terminals and no lineups for anything including check-in, security or baggage. For our return flight from Lubeck our shuttle taxi drove directly onto the tarmac and we stepped right onto our waiting luxury private jet.
Ziskind hints that at least one additional private jet may be purchased to satisfy demand and facilitate operations. Crystal’s luxury jet will be based in the U.S. Northeast since that’s where the bulk of the potential market resides. It’s also a convenient location to allow it to easily operate from other North American cities.
Cristal Champagne with breakfast... of course!
Fresh hot breakfast is served... no Cinnabons for us though.
