Thanks For That: FR Pilot Refers To Pax As ‘Morons’

Open Jaw

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary said last year that it was time for him and his airline to “stop unnecessarily pissing people off.” He may have forgotten to tell his pilots.

A Ryanair pilot made a series of postings on his Facebook page recently in which he posed with a tinfoil hat, called passengers “morons” and disparaged a man apparently kneeling in the airport practicing Salat, the five-times-per-day Muslim prayer ritual.

Perhaps more shocking might be the response – or lack thereof -- by Ryanair, the European low-budget carrier.

According to a report in The Telegraph, the 31-year old pilot, Iain Inglis, wore a tinfoil hat in the cockpit and took a selfie, possibly a reference to various conspiracy theories about mind control.

He also wrote on Facebook: "To all Ryanair passengers. You now have a seat assignment. So why of why are you still queuing up like morons!!?? Please locate your brains."

And finally, Inglis also wrote about running away from a bearded man he saw in a London airport "praying quietly to Mecca and kissing the floor at Stansted.”

The Telegraph reached a spokesperson for Ryanair, who had this to say: “We don’t comment on social media nonsense, nor do we comment on individuals.” Okay then.
