Snakes In A Spa; Knead That

Open Jaw

The idea of a spa engenders visions of relaxing music, lavender diffusers and muted colours. Not the kind of environment one expects to encounter a snake. But at Ada Barak’s Carnivorous Plant Farm, a spa in Israel, there are lots of them. And they willingly serve as massage therapists. Do you tip a snake?

For those of us with a snake phobia, not to worry, the range of large and small slithery beasts are all non-venemous. Small comfort. The treatment involves snakes crawling over the shoulders, neck, face, back, scalp and legs of guests in movements that are said to be therapeutic.

The largest snakes are the ones which provide the kneading. Think of it as a masseuse with very long arms.

For those of you who have clients with a penchant for reptilian relaxation, snake paradise can be found at: Carnivorous Plant Farm, Talmei Elazar, Haifa, Israel; +11 972 4 6373473
