Another Flight Attendant Flips Out, Takes The Slide
The UA plane door opens. The emergency slide inflates. A bag is thrown from the plane to the tarmac. A flight attendant jumps on the slide, whizzes down, grabs the bag and strides away.
Onlookers were stunned when this scenario took place Monday around noon at IAH.
People watching from inside the airport were flabbergasted.
In a statement, United said an investigation is underway and the employee had been suspended.
ABC13 News reported that 159 pax were on the flight from SMF. Six crew members, including the attendant in question, were also on board.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is also looking into the incident. No one was injured and the plane was put back into service after an inspection and a new slide installed.
This is not the 1st time a flight attendant has used the slide, of course. Who could forget the time when a B6 employee named Steven Slater became a kind of folk hero when he ended his career on an emergency slide after announcing over the plane's intercom that a passenger had abused him and he was leaving his job.
Slater grabbed a couple of beers from a galley cart before making his dramatic exit. So far, there’s no explanation for the most recent incident.
CNN’s Jeanne Moos offers a humorous take on the incident – and Slater’s more flamboyant exit – in this video.
