Will Canada’s Airlines Follow U.S. With ‘No Carry-On’ Fares?

Just when you thought economy air travel couldn't get any more basic, some major U.S. airlines have found a way to make it even less appealing. ‘Basic economy’ fares come without some of the few perks left for budget-conscious travellers, including access to the overhead bin. An airline analyst says a move to similar fares in Canada “is inevitable.” CBC

Hard Rock To Partner With Sunwing For Costa Rica Debut

Hard Rock International has formed a “strategic partnership” with Sunwing Travel Group’s Blue Diamond Resorts. The initial result will be the brand’s 1st Costa Rica property, the Hard Rock Hotel Papagayo, scheduled to open by early 2019. Hard Rock says the new partnership will pave the way for more collaborations between the companies. Open JawOJ

Carnival Orders New Ships For HAL & Princess

Carnival Corp. has signed a memorandum of agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to build two new cruise ships – a 3rd Pinnacle Class vessel for Holland America Line and a 6th Royal Class ship for Princess Cruises. With the agreement, Carnival now has 19 new ships scheduled to be delivered between 2017 and 2022. Open JawOJ
