ACTA Works With Partners On Growing Issue Of Fraud
ACTA recently attended the Canadian Travel Fraud Prevention Group (CTFPG) meeting held at IATA headquarters in Montreal.
The purpose of the CTFPG is to bring industry partners together to implement common solutions and best practices to protect revenue. The members of the committee use a variety of tools and processes to fight the fast-growing problem of fraud and shared them with other attendees.
The group included representatives from ACTA, Westjet, Air Canada, Transat, Delta, Sunwing, the Canada Anti-Fraud Centre, CATO (Canadian Association Tour Operators), and ATOQ (Association Tour Operators Quebec).
Topics discussed included:
How to deal with Chargebacks
Fraud Chasers – A free travel industry fraud Tool
Sizing Fraud in the Travel Industry in Canada – VISA
Type of fraud: Real vs. "friendly"
Sharing confirmed fraud data
Fraud Management tools
Internal cost management of chargeback/fraud
As fraud is a global issue it is critical to share information worldwide, ACTA says. The association says that in the coming weeks it will compile more detailed report of the meeting including a “step-by-step guide” to fraud prevention and chargebacks. That report will be made available to members.
