WS Fills 80% Of Its Seats In January, Traffic Up 6.2%

WestJet posted a load factor of 80.0% in January, almost identical to last January’s 80.1%. Traffic increased by 6.2% on capacity growth of 6.3%.

The airline flew a record 1.9 million guests in January, a year-over-year increase of 7.1% or approximately 123,000 additional guests.

"We continue to be pleased with our strong traffic growth as a record number of guests chose to fly with WestJet in January," said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. 

During the month, WestJet began non-stop service to YWG from YHM as well as relaunching non-stop service to YEG and YHZ from YHM. 

As well, WestJet officially inaugurated service to AZA from YYC and YEG. WS also announced it will become the first Canadian carrier featuring non-stop, twice-weekly service between YYCand BNA starting on 4MAY.
