AC Boosts Israel Service With New YUL Flight & Daily YYZ
Air Canada has announced a significant expansion in services between Canada and Israel, with the introduction of a seasonal non-stop service between YUL and TLV and an increase in its current YYZ-TLV non-stop service to a daily frequency year-round.
The news comes about a month after TS announced it would offer “the only” direct flights from YUL to TLV this summer. Also available from Toronto with a connection, the non-stop flight will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays from 18JUN until late OCT. AC’s service will operate Thursdays and Sundays from YUL in a similar date range.
With the new services beginning this summer – a 28% capacity increase over summer 2016 – AC says it will offer the most seats and frequencies between the two nations.
"Air Canada is the leader in the Canada-Israel market, which we have now served for 22 years. Today we are pleased to step up our capacity in response to the increased demand in business, leisure and cultural travel between both countries,” said President & CEO Calin Rovinescu.
"This new service also reflects AC’s ongoing international expansion strategy, from which Montreal is deriving significant benefits. This month Air Canada will launch new service to Shanghai from the city and for next summer we have already announced new routes to Algiers, Marseille, Reykjavík and Dallas from Montreal," said Mr. Rovinescu.
YYZ's current service will increase this summer to daily from six days a week while the new YUL-TLV service will operate 2X-weekly from 22JUN to 16OCT, 2017. The YUL flight will be operated with a 292-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft with three cabins of service.
Tickets for the new YUL-TLV service will be available for sale beginning 15FEB, subject to final government approval.
