TICO News: Unregistered Agent Convicted, Sentenced

Alicia Kielek pled guilty and was convicted of five counts of operating as a travel agent without registration, contrary to Ontario’s Travel Industry Act. Kielek operated in Toronto.

The Court ordered the following sentence:

  • 200 hours of community serviceto be completed within 2 years 
  • Restitutiontotaling $13,904.96 
  • Two years of probationrequiring Kielek to report to a probation officer. In addition, if she wishes to work in the industry she must notify prospective employers of her conviction and provide proof of having informed the prospective employer to the Ontario Travel Registrar

 Kielek paid $7,599.15 in restitution payments prior to being sentenced by the court.
