Air Canada will launch new service from Vancouver to Kauai with its new mainline Boeing 737 MAX-8 fleet this winter. The airline will also double the frequency of flights from Western Canada to Hawaii. More news: all flights from Western Canada to Honolulu, Maui and Kona will feature Air Canada's new 737 MAX birds.

"The introduction of the fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to our fleet has given us tremendous flexibility to strategically enhance our already extensive North American network, and offer more flights to popular destinations with more connection options from our YVR and Calgary hub airports,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines.

“With 41 weekly flights next winter to Hawaii, we're very pleased to launch new flights to Kauai, as well as double the number of flights from Western Canada and offer day-time return flight options from Honolulu and Maui to Vancouver."

AC VP Global Sales Duncan Bureau says the new planes offer the airline many options.

“The capability and range of the 737 as well as the product experience is compelling. We are competing with narrow-body versus wide-body So from a cost structure perspective we really like the 737.”

AC also announced it will launch daily, seasonal flights between Calgary and Palm Springs, and between Edmonton and Las Vegas starting 28OCT, 2018. All flights mentioned above are now available for purchase.

"We are very pleased to offer additional convenient travel options to Albertans with non-stop flights from Calgary and Edmonton to Palm Springs and Las Vegas respectively this winter," said Smith. "Concurrent with our fleet renewal, we are strategically adding these new routes and also increasing frequencies to other popular sun destinations to meet expected demand both locally, and from customers connecting off our international flights."

Air Canada is also increasing the frequency of flights from Calgary to Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Phoenix, and from Vancouver to Phoenix and Palm Springs.

The new Calgary to Palm Springs, and Edmonton to Las Vegas flights will be onboard Air Canada A320 and Air Canada Rouge A319 aircraft respectively, both offering premium and economy cabins.
