MSC To Base ‘Seaside’ Class Ship In Miami

MSC Cruises is not giving up on Miami. The line has announced that the 1 st of its next generation “Seaside" class of ships, set to debut in November 2017, will sail year-round from the south Florida port to the Caribbean.

The line also announced that its Miami-based cruise operations will benefit from a newly renovated and expanded dedicated berth and terminal at PortMiami.

Following the 1st ship's delivery from the shipyard, MSC Seaside will make her way to Miami for the line's 1 st -ever christening ceremony in the U.S.

MSC Cruises Chief Executive Officer Gianni Onorato, says the Seaside class of ships is a major part of the company's expansion plans. “Today is a very exciting day for the company as this is the 1 st major announcement related to the company's new builds and demonstrates our enthusiasm and long-term commitment to continuing to expand our presence in North America," Onorato said.

The ship will accommodate up to 4,140 passengers at double occupancy, making MSC Seaside the largest cruise ship ever built by Fincantieri shipyards.

As part of a 1st look at what MSC Seaside will offer on board, the company revealed that the ship will boast an aqua park with 5 water slides and attractions for all ages.
