Joni Rein, Vice President Worldwide Sales for Carnival Cruise Line, has announced that she will depart the company effective 01AUG15.

The high-profile and agent favourite, Rein joined the company in 2008 as V.P. Field Sales and was named to her current position in 2009.

“Joni and her team have worked very hard in recent years to enhance and expand our travel agent relationships and have made great strides in gaining stronger trust and support from the trade," said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line.

Rein presided over some difficult times. Many agents were unhappy with relations with the cruise line, and consumer perceptions suffered due to incidents such as the Carnival Triumph engine room fire in 2012. She spearheaded the Carnival Conversations program, a series of initiatives designed to repair agent relations at Carnival and implement more agent-friendly policies.

“My decision to depart the company was a difficult one," Rein said in a statement, "but I feel it's the right time with brand and trade sentiment at their current levels and an incredible executive leadership team in place, all of whom I respect tremendously."

Carnival said no replacement has yet been named. Following her August departure from full-time duties, Rein will continue to consult for the line through the end of the year.
