WestJet launched new, non-stop daily services yesterday between Calgary and Terrace; Calgary and Yellowknife as well as Toronto and Gander.

Flights between YYC and YXT will be operated by WestJet Encore's fleet of Canadian-made Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft, while flights between YYC and YZF will be operated by Boeing Next-Generation 737s.

"Our new service to Terrace is made possible by our modern, comfortable, fast and fuel-efficient fleet of Q400 turboprop aircraft that allow us to expand air service for smaller Canadian communities and continue to grow service from our hub in Calgary," said Ferio Pugliese, Executive Vice President, WestJet, & President, WestJet Encore.

"Whether commuting to Terrace for work in northwestern British Columbia's strong and developing economy or Yellowknife, the diamond capital of North America, these new non-stop flights will support the economic growth of these two important Canadian regions," Pugliese said.

WestJet’s Gander service is operated by WestJet’s 737 aircraft.

"We are aggressively growing our domestic network through 2015 with more WestJet and WestJet Encore service in eastern Canada, including the Toronto-Gander flight launching today" said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Guest Experience. "We are pleased to provide guests with lower fares, more flight options and greater connectivity across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland into the wider WestJet network."

Gander is now the 3rd WestJet destination in Newfoundland. WestJet Encore will soon follow with flights between Halifax and Gander; Deer Lake; St. John's and Sydney beginning 15JUL15.
