Marking the 4th annual celebration of Travel Agent Appreciation Day, The Travel Industry Council of Ontario is recognizing the valuable service and consumer protection that travel agents provide to Ontario travellers.

“The Internet has made it even easier for consumers to book their own travel but that can also lead to problems if you don’t have all of the information you need. Ontario travel agents have valuable knowledge that can improve and protect the travel experience,” says TICO in a statement.

TICO continues to tell consumers that ‘Ontario Travel agents are FantasTICO!’ through an awareness campaign promoting the knowledge, integrity and professionalism of TICO registered travel agents.

“TICO registered travel agents must provide comprehensive information to their clients that safeguards their travel plans, but what really impresses me is the personal and professional commitment these agents have to their clients,” says Richard Smart, President and CEO of TICO.

“I hear stories every day of how agents go above and beyond to help and protect their clients.”

David Orazietti, Ontario’s Minister of Government and Consumer Services, added these comments: “Our government is committed to protecting Ontarians, and our province has the most comprehensive consumer protection for travellers in the country. These protections are supported by our provincial travel industry, which is committed to the highest standards of service and professionalism.”

TICO says Ontarians booking through registered agents receive a number of powerful benefits.

“Ontario consumers have many options when it comes to booking travel, but Ontario offers powerful protections for those that book with a TICO registered travel agent. Beyond that protection is the unique knowledge and advice that a travel agent can provide. And should a traveller experience problems, they are not alone if they booked through a travel agent.”
