A familiar face to Canadian travel agents after nearly 30 years with The Travel Corporation, Trafalgar Canada president Doug Patterson has resigned from the company.

“A big thank you to Doug for helping lead a strong team at Trafalgar for the past six years and for ensuring we have the most outstanding reputation in our industry," said Jeff Element, president of The Travel Corporation, Canada.

“We need to continue this same level of responsiveness and support everyone has come to expect from Trafalgar," Element added. "To that end, we are very fortunate to have Wolf Paunic, Trafalgar's current vice-president of sales ready and excited to step up to the role of president for Trafalgar Canada. Please join me in wishing Doug well and in congratulating Wolf on his new role."

Patterson began his TravCorp career with the Contiki brand and later spent years with Insight Vacations before being named to the president role at Trafalgar, TravCorp's largest guided vacation brand.

“I've got 28 years of nothing but fond memories," Patterson told Open Jaw in an interview this morning. “The Travel Corporation is an innovative, progressive company that has enriched and transformed the guided vacation experience."

Patterson says he will use the summer to enjoy quality time with his wife – long-time Holland America Line BDM Lori Patterson – and young daughter.

“My best years are still ahead," says Patterson. “I'm looking forward to new opportunities and challenges in this fantastic industry."

Paunic says he is excited to take on a new challenge.

“I am very excited and proud to lead the Trafalgar brand in Canada and continue to work closely with our valued agent partners," says Paunic. “We have the right mix of knowledge, passion and experience across our dedicated team members nationwide to elevate Trafalgar, the Insider of guided vacations to the top of mind of Canadian travellers."

I'm sure this won't be the last we'll see of Doug! All the best, my friend, in wherever you end up.
