Long time YWG-based agency Jouneys Travel & Leisure SuperCentre has filed for bankruptcy and is closing down.
ACTA announced the closure this week saying that well known agent, owner and former ACTA National President Ron Pradinuk had found the online marketplace had increasingly presented tough competition to his operations forcing the closure.
Pradinuk had been this year’s recipient of ACTA’s Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Award for having the greatest positive impact on the role, status and condition of the Canadian Travel Industry.
Pradinuk says the closure has been very hard on he and his family, “I had a dream and it was a dream that was built by my wife and my daughter who worked in the store for so many years. It’s a bit of a transition that none of us are feeling good with.”
Journeys’ staff and clientele have been transferred to YWG’s River East Travel.
