TravelBrands Gears Up With Gedeon As New CEO

Zeina Gedeon

Zeina Gedeon, the dynamic former President & CEO of Air Canada Vacations has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer for TravelBrands.

Known for her blunt, decisive style, Gedeon led ACV from May 2006 through October 2012. Following that she moved over to Air Canada where she held roles including VP Sales, Distribution and eCommerce.

“We welcome Zeina to the team and look forward to having her lead the transformation of Travelbrands into a leader within the Canadian marketplace, with her proven record for success in this industry,” said TravelBrands owner Frank DeMarinis. “Zeina brings a wealth of talent, proven leadership skills with extensive travel industry experience, and an ability to bring people together in this very strategic role.”

A TravelBrands statement says Gedeon will work closely with the DeMarinis brothers, who will now devote more time to the company’s strategic growth, while Gedeon will focus on shaping technology and travel product direction.

She will share her time between the TravelBrands Toronto and Montreal offices.

Gedeon told Open Jaw that she is excited to take on the challenge at TravelBrands, a company currently working to reorganize under creditor protection.

“I’m not interested in running a company for the sake of running a company,” Gedeon says. “This is a company that has some fantastic brands and great potential. Together with some excellent people at TravelBrands we will reorganize, rebuild and restructure this company.”

Among the people Gedeon will be working with is Nino Montagnese, who is currently heading up both the TravelBrands National Sales Team and Sears Travel Divisions. The two worked closely together at ACV.

Hello Ted based on your comment are you and your tour operator prepared to hire all the staff? Not a very nice comment. What do all the Travelbrands staff think about Ted's comment???????????????? This may be you one day Ted!

Ted, hmm let me guess what tour operator your work for? Not one I'm going to be booking anymore! I'd rather put my customers on WestJet or Sunwng...

Adding more expensive executives isnt the answer to the problems at trav brands. They should continue to clean house of the directors and executives that are currently in place as they are part of the reason they are in these financial problems. Another dumb move by these brothera that wanted to play tour operator and who are clearly in way over their heads this time. Retail people cant run tour opertors. Close the doors and let the staff move on. Dragging it out isnt going to make the final result any different.
