David
Lafayette is stepping down from his post as President of Travel Guard Canada
(AIG). The well-known veteran of the Canadian travel insurance industry is
retiring effective 31DEC.
In
2000, along with John Noel and David’s
son (and former NHL player) Nathan, Lafayette created Travel Guard-Canada to offer
travel insurance and travel services to Canadians.
Prior
to that, Lafayette spent 10 years as President of Mutual of Omaha/RBC Travel.
In
a note to Open Jaw, Lafayette wrote: “It has been many years since leaving
University and entering the Insurance industry (who would have thought?).
I will be leaving AIG after almost 16 years, and it is time to pass the mantle
on to Nancy Mitchell ( nancy.mitchell@aig.com,
416 646-3733), who will now lead Travel Guard into the future.”
Travel Guard
was acquired by U.S. insurance giant AIG (now known as Chartis) in 2006. David’s son Nathan is an executive with the
parent company, based in Manhattan.
