Starting next week WestJet will no longer be offering non-stop YBR-YYZ flights. The new route will be discontinued eff. 26SEP due to lower than expected load factors.
The 4 times weekly flights were introduced for the peak summer season and subsequently included in the airline’s year round plans.
WS spokesperson Lauren Stewart says the carrier has not ruled out re-introducing the service in future but explained that less than 5% of capacity was being filled on the route.
“We really thought it would pick up. It was a route that had been asked for, but unfortunately the bookings just weren’t there.”
The Brandon Municipal Airport is undergoing a renovation and expansion that is expected to be completed early next year.
WestJet will continue to operate a midday YBR-YYC flight 7 days a week and will re-introduce 3 times weekly early a.m. departures and late night returns eff. 23OCT.
