Humber's award winning golf course
Newfoundland: Friendly, Scenic and….Upscale?
It's no secret that Newfoundland (the far east of the western world) is known for its spectacular scenery and charming locals, but world class golf? Spas? Swank country homes you can rent - and earn commission on?
Yes – that is Newfoundland too. Such was the message according to the delegation from Humber Valley Resort who recently hosted a luncheon for industry poo-bahs at the posh Park Hyatt in Toronto.
As Justin Ladha, senior VP of operations at Humber's parent company, Newfound Resorts, pointed out, Humber features over 200 chalets from three to six bedrooms, each on at least an acre of land with snazzy outdoor hot tubs overlooking the golf course, the forest and the odd moose. And with 13 flights a week this summer from YYZ on Air Canada, WestJet and Sunwing into Deer Lake Airport just 20 minutes from the resort, Humber Valley will be more accessible than you think.
In fact, why not check it out for yourself? June 19 to 22 will see the kick-off of what is hoped will be the first annual Battle of the Travel Stars at Humber Valley Resort. Anyone in the industry is invited (only prerequisite is sense of fun, apparently). There will be golf on the on-site course - named the best new course in Canada by ScoreGolf mag last year - plus other challenges from the sporting to the wacky.
