Almond Adds Another Gem In BGI

No one can accuse the folks at Almond Resorts of letting the grass grow under their feet! In a few short years they've expanded from the popular Almond Beach Village in Barbados to add the Almond Beach Club (also BGI) and two resorts in St. Lucia. And now? Ta-dah! After an investment of US$30 million, the Almond Casuarina Beach Resort is opening its doors.

"It's been a three year renovation, where we've added beachfront rooms, a destination spa and kids' club," Wendy Cole, vice-president of sales and marketing for the resorts, told a group of tour operators at the tiny Amuse-Bouche Bistro in T.O. recently. "And we know our Canadian clients can't wait to see the newest Almond property."

Almond Casuarina is also within walking distance of St. Lawrence Gap, the rocking south coast strip of pubs, restos and funky bars which have drawn visitors for years. "And for a change of pace our guests have complete exchange privileges with the other two Almond resorts – including shuttle service," Cole added.

The "new" resort will be green—and not just in its gardens. With solar-heated water, gray water usage and Green Globe certification, Casuarina is sporting a new eco look. Spending green…and becoming green. Very cool news for clients who love BGI!
