Cuba Plus…Music Plus People Plus More!

The rum flowed, the dancers leapt, and the cigar smoke wafted (outdoors, of course) at the Palais Royale Ballroom recently. And Lake Ontario sparkled almost as much as the Caribbean Sea as 250 business and travel industry movers and shakers convened for the Ontario launch of the magazine Cuba Plus.

According to Jim Cicci, the glossy’s vice-president of business development, the magazine has been published five times in western Canada, and “It was time to expand.” Next up, he hopes, will be a Quebec edition.

The very chic magazine is full of stories about Cuban culture, entertainment, history, fashion and trends. Plus lots of insider tips about off-the-beaten path but irresistible gems throughout the island.

Meanwhile, the talkative crowd sipping mojitos could only dream they were on the terrace of the Hotel Nacional in Havana rather than on the terrace in downtown T.O. Never mind, reading Cuba Plus is almost as good as being there.
