Silk Holidays Takes To The Road With Indonesia
"How does one sell Indonesia?" was the question posed by Silk Holidays' marketing executive Mavis Lau during the company's recent "Visit Indonesia 2008" road show in North Vancouver. "You just have to know a little more than your clients," joked Lau.
Silk Holidays has taken their show on the road for the 2nd time stopping in Red Deer, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Abbotsford, North Vancouer and Parksville. To get everyone in the mood at North Vancouver’s Cheers restaurant, the event kicked off with Bali’s traditional fisherman’s dance.
So, how much do we really know about the country that is home to 17,000 islands and over 300 ethnic groups? According to Indonesian consul Wibanarto (as with most Indonesians, he goes by one name), if one were to visit an island a day, it would take more than 50 years.
Although most of those in attendance had been to Indonesia, the agents were very inquisitive and on hand to field the questions were staff from Silk, EVA Air (Silk's airline partner for this event), Indonesian in-bound tour operator Panorama and the Indonesian consulate.
For those who would like to sample Indonesia and find out more on their own, Silk is offering a Bali fam via EVA Air in October.
Selamat jalan!
