Ladies who lunch!
The Globus Family of Brands’ annual Appreciation
Lunch held each January to welcome the New Year is a warm, comfortable and
sincere event. The low-key repeat venue in a private room at Yorkville’s
Sassafraz compliments the message of gratitude and partnership being delivered.
“You make a difference for us every day and we
really believe partnership is a two-way street,” said Stephanie Bishop,
Managing Director of GFOB in Canada.
That was made clear by the audience – as expected,
there were representatives of top accounts, tourist boards, airlines, travel
media (and the odd stray Godmother!). But GFOB also graciously invited other business
partners including their lawyers, banker and accountants.
Bishop was joined by the dynamic team of Kim
Clarke, Director of Sales and Patrice Geske, Director of Marketing in thanking
their guests, and Bishop pointed out that the company demonstrates its respect
for business partners with an accounting department that speedily pays the
bills. That’s something to which I can attest and certainly appreciate!
Each guest was the recipient of the small but
meaningful gift of a hand-made bracelet made by a woman living in the MineField
Village in Cambodia – a war-ravaged place surrounded by one of the largest
concentrations of landmines in the world.
Globus Family of Brands has hired 12 women for a
9-month period to create these special bracelets (each takes a week to make)
and is invested in helping women who have been exploited to become artisans,
teachers and business owners.
The bracelets combine culture, craft and passion
and were very much appreciated by each guest. They offer a thoughtful reminder
of all the things that are more important in life and also how travel can
contribute in significant ways.
