Oh My Oh My Miami!
You think those Floridians keep the welcome mat out for us Canucks? Well wait ‘til your clients encounter the hot hospitality that folks in Miami plan to dish out this winter.
That was the message at a recent bash hosted by Miami tourism hotshots in T.O.’s upscale “The Fifth” Club. As we munched on crab cakes and sipped mango martinis (oh my, for sure!), we learned about hotels from the delicious new Trump property to attractions as unconventional as the local alligator farm.
“About half a million Canadians a year come to the Miami area,” Rolando Aedo, V.P. Marketing & Tourism for the Greater Miami VCB told me. “And we’re expecting a five to 10 per cent increase this winter.” He predicts this will be a great opportunity for Canucks to upgrade their holidays – maybe to the fancy Mandarin Oriental Miami. Or at the Floridian classic, The Doral, which is targeting your clients with a commissionable package including daily golf.
And guess what? It’s not just about the beach. Early December Miami hosts Art Basel, an art show so magnetic this year there will be 17 other art shows at the same time.
No doubt another attraction to bring Canadians – as the gracious Cari Farinas of the Doral put it “Flocking like birds.”
To be more specific, exactly like happy loons, n’est-ce pas?
