Pierre Boulanger will orchestrate the 400th birthday party

Let’s hear it for grand old ladies! Québec City celebrates the big 400!

In an era when it’s all about anti-ageing and looking young, isn’t it refreshing that one of Canada’s greatest old dames chooses to celebrate every one of her years with dignity and style. And plans a blow-out party for tens of thousands of her biggest fans.

Sacré bleu – get ready for the celebration of the century!

Next year Québec City celebrates the 400th year of its founding, and to say that her happy residents are getting ready for a party is quite an understatement. That’s what over 100 guests learned from the Quebec delegation at a recent trade event at the Fairmont Royal York. There will be 10 whole months of celebrations kicking off on New Year’s Eve.

Pierre Boulanger, who is orchestrating and directing the 130 events taking place next year, is inviting all travel agents to send their clients to “share the passion that animates us”. The brand new Espace 400e will be a gathering place and performance site in the old port. There will be tours of the fortifications with historical re-inactments, live music, theatre, street performances and dancing on a massive raft-like dance floor in the middle of the St. Lawrence.

Oh là là. Time to get on the Québec City bandwagon and let your clients in on the party of the century. Or four centuries, to be specific. It’s bound to be a trip to remember.
