Selling Off Canada’s Airports No Panacea To High Costs
Barrie McKenna, GlobeandMail
Transport Canada uses airports as cash cows to fund other functions with the approx. $1 billion it collects from them but spends less than $600 million on security and building improvements. Privatized airports would have a strong incentive to maximize profits, either by raising more revenue from travellers or cutting back on things people take for granted.
