YXX Celebrates WestJet’s 20th Anniversary in Abbotsford

In the 20 years that WestJet has been flying to YXX, the airport has grown from 3,000 pax in 1997 to 530,000 pax in 2016. To mark the occasion, Abbotsford celebrated  WestJet’s 20th anniversary of service to the city.

 In June 18, 1997, WestJet became the first scheduled carrier to provide service into and out of YXX and was the first scheduled jet carrier to start a new destination in Canada in nearly 20 years.

 WestJet continues to be the dominant carrier from Abbotsford, with seasonal service to Mexico along with 9 daily domestic flights to and from YXX, 5 to Calgary, 3 to Edmonton and 1 daily to Winnipeg.
