The Race Is On: Tina The Travel Agent @ The Air Canada Kissimmee Race

It was another bright and early morning as Tina set off with the AC Race group to none other than the happiest place on earth! Walt Disney World’s latest attraction Toy Story Land, which opened its doors in late June, was the final stop on the Amazing Race-style competition put on by Experience Kissimmee and Air Canada.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and this morning participants were treated to a character breakfast, served up with Buzz Lightyear and two sides of Green Army Men

Walt Disney Company’s Wholesale Sales Manager Jennifer Rivard set the teams off on a timed race through Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As they feverishly collected clues around the park, Tina was confident her group would move up in the standings. She rubbed her Minnie Mouse ears for luck!

At last the punishing competition was over and after an action-packed week it was time to celebrate with a private gala evening at Discovery Cove. The tranquil surroundings away from the crowds made for a perfect setting.

The group was joined by Experience Kissimmee CEO DT Minich, who shared a few words to kick off the evening – including reinforcing that Canada is the region’s #1 market.

“Canada is so important for us and we want to support the travel trade,” Minich said. “There are not too many opportunities where agents can come from all areas of Canada, so this event meant a lot to us.”

Minich said he hoped participants took away some key messages, including that Kissimmee is a diverse area with a variety of attractions either manmade or courtesy of Mother Nature. He also stressed that Kissimmee is a great value hotel and vacation property destination, adding that “with the dollar fluctuating up and down, there’s real value for money by staying in Kissimmee.”

Then it was time for the big reveal – the placings of the eight teams. Everyone was anxious to see where their team finished and who would win the ultimate prize, which included flights, accommodations in Kissimmee, and theme park tickets!

Tina’s team came in 6th overall. But we were all winners!!! Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to sponsors Air Canada, Air Canada Vacations and Experience Kissimmee for putting on a fabulous event. Tina is energized and ready to get behind the desk and start booking winter Kissimmee packages for Canadian travellers.
