DR Vice Minister Of Tourism Completes Successful First Visit To CAN

Last week, Fausto Fernandez, vice minister of tourism of the Dominican Republic, completed a successful first visit to Canada. While in town, Vice Minister Fernandez met with industry partners, including Air Transat, Sunwing and Air Canada, to discuss inbound tourism numbers from Canada and strategies for growth. Meetings were also held with the directors of both tourism offices as well as the DR’s marketing and PR agencies of record to discuss Canadian tourism statistics and new developments for the 2018/2019 winter season.

“Canada is an important market for us. We are delighted to have welcomed more than 837,000 Canadian visitors to the Dominican Republic in 2017,” said Vice Minister Fernandez. “This year our numbers will be even higher. Between January and September of 2018, we have already welcomed more than 699,000 visitors from Canada alone and the high season is yet to start. We are very pleased with the growth in tourism, and the new developments being planned will only improve our product as we continue to welcome record numbers of visitors from Canada and around the world.”
