ACV Dream Makers D.R. Mega Fam
Day 2: Puerto Plata Surpasses Expectations
By the second resort visit the group of over 100 ACV Dream Makers could see how much Puerto Plata has evolved as a top-notch resort destination.
And there’s more to come. In a matter of days, the 4.5 star Senator Puerto Plata Resort-- formerly the Riu Bachata -- will open its doors. The ACV group was lucky to get a sneak preview of the grounds, including the main lobby, entertainment area and gourmet food.
As we sipped our mocktails, entertainers dressed in white and silver accents cat-walked across the stage to the sounds of a live band. VP Operations America Gema Nieto and her colleague Antonio Fornieles, direct from Senator's Spanish headquarters, presented a slide show detailing the property’s enormous transformation.
According to Abdalah Castillo, Chairman of the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, more Canadians than ever are flocking to the D.R., with growth each year since 2004. Castillo points out by comparison that while the U.S. makes up 30% of visitors, Canada is disproportionately strong, with 22% of the market and over 800,000 visitors per year.
