Bauhaus To Beethoven -- Germany Presents A Kaleidoscope Of Culture

Travel agents were treated to an evening of ‘speed-dating’ with representatives from regions in Germany including Baden Baden and Bavaria as well as tour operators including Insight Vacations and Globus. 

Hosted by Destination Germany and Vox International at Toronto’s downtown Courtyard by Marriott on Monday evening, the evening began with a quick presentation by Julia Dywelski, Director of Marketing & Sales for the German National Tourist Office. Then there was no time to waste as agents raced off to five-minute round table meetings with suppliers. 

“What we wanted to achieve with this event is to introduce agents to a wider variety of destinations, products and regions of Germany, said Dywelski. “We are hoping agents will see that Germany has a lot to offer, by meeting with the exhibitors for a detailed view of Germany. 

Agents also got a chance to put on a pair of virtual reality glasses and immerse themselves in German culture, playing piano next to Beethoven himself!  

Germany is celebrating many anniversaries this year and next. 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus art movement. Next year brings the 250thanniversary of Beethoven’s birth and the 42nd running of the once-a-decade Oberammergau Passion Play. All that adds up to plenty of reasons to recommend Germany to your clients.
