EXCLUSIVE OJ ON LOCATION: Day 2 Of TPI's Level Up Conference Packed With Biz Tips

It was a day chockfull of back-to-back presentations and discussions at TPI's Level Up conference yesterday at Beaches Turks and Caicos.

And as far as ‘Levelling Up’ goes, after seeing a double-digit increase in sales in 2018, it seems TPI has been hard at work this year, too.

"I just want to assure you and reaffirm to everyone that we are by far the largest host in Canada," said Zeina Gedeon, CEO of TPI, at yesterday morning's opening address. 

According to Gedeon, TPI travel sales increased 13% in fiscal year 2019 over 2018. January 2019 was best month for sales in all of TPI's 25 years, she said, and the months of April, July and October each saw growth averaging 28%.

On the commission side, growth of 14% was recorded year-over-year.

In terms of product, the cruise segment saw the most significant growth, an increase of 25%.

The day also included a presentation by Julie Cole, co-founder of Mabel's Labels, who went from operating her business in her sister's basement to recently selling it for $12 million. Cole provided valuable tips for agents designed to help them "level up" their business, like learning to say no, finding their niche and developing a personal brand.

Agents also heard from a variety of TPI suppliers including WestJet's Sevi Anagnostis and Jane Clementino, AmaWaterways' Sandra Gardiner, Air Canada Vacations' Erminia Nigro and Krista Cardona, Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Beverley Vickers and many more. 

Several TPI agents also shared their success stories, describing how they managed to grow their business and, in many cases, land sales they initially didn't think possible.
