OJ ON LOCATION – ACV Curaçao Mega FAM Agents Dash In The ‘Punda’ Challenge

Sandwiched somewhere between Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino (located right in downtown Willemstad with a spectacular infinity beach pool) and the Kunuku Aqua Resort (which features a total of five slides, including one that’s 126 metres long), agents on Air Canada Vacation’s Curaçao Mega FAM took a break from discovering the island’s accommodation offering to explore its historic downtown area.

Albeit, there were no leisurely saunters along Emma Bridge or meandering strolls through souvenir shops. That’s because agents discovered the downtown core while on the “Punda Challenge” – a scavenger hunt put on by the Curaçao Tourist Board that doubled as a history lesson. For example did you know that the island is home to the oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere? Or that “dushi” is the most popular word in all of Curaçao? It has several different meanings, like good-looking, delicious, good and fun.

As for today’s site inspections, Lion’s Dive Beach Resort Curaçao emerged as a favourite among many agents, even those who weren’t serious divers.

Diane Murchison, a Travel Agent Next Door (TTAND) agent based in Stouffville, ON, said that while she’s never been diving, the resort had a really great vibe and felt comfortable, not to mention that she found the rooms to be spacious and inviting. Even if clients aren’t hardcore divers, Murchison said the resort’s excellent beach and snorkeling excursions are likely to be right up their alley.

Besides being impressed with the resort’s dive shop and the fact that it has four boats, Julie Gillen, a dive enthusiast and TTAND agent in London, said the fact that the Lion’s Dive was only a 10-minute drive to downtown Willemstad – to which the resort offers a daily shuttle – is another major plus for guests.

Other ACV-affiliated resorts the group visited today were Sunscape Curaçao Resort, Spa & Casino, ACOYA Curaçao Resort Villa & Spa, Renaissance Resort & Casino and Kunuku Aqua Resort.
