TTC Donates $90K To Australian Fire Service
To assist a reeling Australia in the face of its devastating bushfires, The Travel Corporation is donating $90,000 to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS), which is the lead combat agency for bush fires in the region.
The areas worst hit by the bushfires are in the east coast. Victoria is currently under a state of disaster and NSW – home of Sydney -- has declared a state of emergency, Open Jaw reported.
“On behalf of TTC, our hearts go out to the devastating loss of life, property, wildlife and nature from the bushfire tragedy. A huge appreciation goes out to the outstanding efforts of the NSW Rural Fire Service – the danger they put themselves in on a daily basis to protect the community and its surrounding area is heroic," said Brett Tollman, Chief Executive Officer of the Travel Corporation, in a news release.
The funds will directly benefit volunteer firefighters with the NSW RFS.
"We felt compelled to reach out and help, so it’s an absolute privilege to contribute to their commitment, hence our December donation of AUD$100K to the NSW Rural Fire Service. Funds go towards technology and necessities such as radios, floodlights, GPS for the trucks, maintenance, fuel, food and training.”
