Travel Edge To Bring Pandemic-Stranded Canadians Home

In partnership with local government and Air Canada, Travel Edge is orchestrating the relief of 70 Canadian citizens who have been stranded in Bermuda since international travel was halted on 20MAR.

On Friday 05JUN, 2020 with the authorization of the Bermudian Government, Travel Edge will be able to exclusively re-open Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport which has been closed since the early days of the pandemic. At this time the Premier of Bermuda has announced the International Airport is not expected to open until 31JUN.

“The pandemic has changed so much of our lives, but through it all our Travel Advisors have risen to the challenge of getting their clients home time after time,” says Michael Johnson, EVP Travel Edge Leisure.

The flight will be operating out of Toronto and is the third chartered flight by Travel Edge to help citizens during the pandemic. The first flight was on 07APR from Ft. Lauderdale to help Bermudian locals stranded there. The second flight was on 15MAY from Atlanta. This is the first flight chartered to help stranded Canadians.

After two successful chartered flights rescuing stranded Americans and Bermudian locals, Travel Edge received many requests from Canadians who wanted to return home.

“The outpouring of requests from Canadians looking to get home has been so powerful,” says Mike Dawson, Country Director of Travel Edge Bermuda. “We’re working together with the Canadian Consulate, local government, Ministry of Health, law enforcement and many others to make it happen. This is a community effort to get everyone home safely.”
