Velas Resorts Unveils New Customer Health and Safety Protocols

Air Canada Vacations (ACV) and Velas Resorts held a webinar on 09JUL, 2020, to inform travel advisors about the new COVID-19 health and safety protocols their customers can expect when staying at a Velas Resort.

The webinar was divided into segments led by members of the Velas Resort Team, and took place in different Velas Resorts.

The Grand Velas Riviera Maya showcased what customers will experience when checking-in and arriving in their suites. Upon arrival, customers will be required to sanitize their shoes and hands, and an employee will take their luggage to ensure proper sanitation. Guests will also be required to have their temperature and oxygen levels taken before heading to their rooms. Suites will be marked with stickers to show they’ve been cleaned, and will have a 72-hour waiting period between occupancy.

Velas Vallarta Resort demonstrated the health protocols at the pool, beach, and restaurants. Chairs at the pool and beach will undergo sanitization, and guests will reserve them. Guests will access menus using a barcode on their phones and glasses and cutlery will be washed at a high temperature to eliminate harmful bacteria. Only a la carte service will be provided.

Lastly, Grand Velas Los Cabos addressed new protocols for the Teen Club. Activities such as ping pong and foosball have been spread out to allow for social distancing and all high-touch equipment such as X-Box controllers will be put through a UV-light machine and stored in plastic bags. Twice a day the entire space will be sanitized.

ACV is currently operating direct flights from Montréal to Cancun, and flights from Montreal via Toronto to Puerto Vallarta.
