Viking River Cruises has announced Viking Ra as the newest addition to its river fleet. The recently acquired vessel will undergo a complete renovation to reflect Viking's Scandinavian design. Designated as an intimate sailing experience for just 48 guests, Viking Ra will sail the Nile River on a new Egypt cruise tour, Pharaohs & Pyramids, launching MAR2018.

“Egypt is one of the most intriguing countries in the world, and it remains a top destination for many of our guests,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking Cruises. “For two decades, we have led the industry in river cruising with our innovative ship design and itineraries that bring our guests closer to the cultures of the world. We are committed to Egypt, and with the introduction of Viking Ra, we look forward to providing our award-winning service to our guests on the Nile – and to their experiencing this culturally rich region in the Viking way.”

With 24 staterooms, the ship features 3 suite categories, each of 291 sq. ft., including 20 Veranda Suites with a full-size veranda in the living room and a French balcony in the bedroom. All staterooms will include premium amenities.

In addition to 2 Jacuzzis, the ship includes a pool at the rear, as well as a spa offering a variety of treatments.

Viking Ra’s The Restaurant will serve 3 full meals and a selection of regional and international fare. Guests can also visit the onboard bar and lounge.

For entertainment guests can partake in Viking’s historical and culture events and excursions led by an expert Egyptologist.
