European River line VIVA Cruises is entering the expedition market with its newly acquired shipMS Seaventure(formallyMS Bremen), launching in MAY 2021.
The 164-pax ship will depart Amsterdam on its maiden voyage on 15MAY, 2021, arriving in Warnemünde, Hamburg 21MAY.
It will then sail on 13 itineraries in destinations including the Baltic Sea, Iceland, Norway, Greenland, Canada, South America and transatlantic voyages.
“We have always aimed to offer our customers a different perspective on the destinations they visit and the launch of our expedition cruises takes this one step further," said Andrea Kruse, COO of VIVA Cruises.
"We will be offering a truly unique small ship experience without compromising on quality or our high standards. Our itineraries offer something very different for travellers who want to get close to some of the most breathtaking scenery and nature on earth.”
As an all-inclusive product, VIVA Cruises offers full-board with breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner (multi-course gourmet menus) and snacks; a gourmet restaurant with fine dining; and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Tips and gratuities are also included.
Seaventure's 82 cabins have a bedroom and living area with air conditioning, double or single beds with an additional sofa bed, flat-screen TV with live transmission of the ship's outboard camera, a satellite telephone and Wi-Fi access.
Some cabins have a private balcony and all feature a free fully stocked mini-bar and cabin service available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Its small size and maneuverability allow it to enter remote harbours and change course at short notice to observe animals and nature, says VIVA in a statement. Its design also means it can glide safely through icy seas.
Its fleet of 12 Zodiacs will allow guests to explore uncharted territories and view nature at close hand, and the group of experts on board will guide excursions and present lectures.
