Avalon Waterways has cancelled the christening of its newest ship, Avalon View, scheduled for 6APR, 2020 in Ybbs, Austria.

“In this time of heightened sensitivity in the travel industry, we understand the importance of our partners to be close to home and connected with their clients and teammates. For this reason, we’ve taken the decision to cancel our Christening celebration of our newest Suite Ship, the Avalon View,” said Pamela Hoffee, managing director, Avalon Waterways.

Last week, the Globus family announced that it has cancelled all departures for all its brands worldwide through to the end of APR this year.

Stéphanie Bishop, managing director of the Globus family of brands in Canada, called the coronavirus outbreak a "difficult worldwide situation" that the company is monitoring on an hourly basis.

“We are grateful for our 90-plus years in the business and experience in dealing with the crises which unfortunately happen from time to time in our industry. As you’ll see from our Peace of Mind offer, Avalon and the entire Globus family of brands is going above and beyond to work with our travel advisor partners to help them with both their cashflow and to keep their clients," she added.

"We are here for the advisors long term – through thick and thin – and know we can rely on their whole-hearted support once business resumes as usual.”
