Steel cutting for the Scenic Group's new Eclipse II has commenced in Croatia as the initial step in the construction of the cruise line's second Discovery Ship.

Scenic has formed a new company, MKM Yachts, that will take full responsibility for all new ocean ship builds starting with Scenic Eclipse II.

Scenic Eclipse II, a 228-passenger ultra-luxury mega yacht designed especially for polar expedition cruising conditions, “heralds an exciting new era for the Scenic Group, as we continue to develop our luxury ocean products under both Scenic and Emerald Cruises brands,” said Scenic Group owner and chairman Glen Moroney in a news release.

Sister ship Scenic Eclipse launched in AUG 2019 with a christening held in New York City on 10SEP, 2019. Dame Helen Mirren did the honours as the ship’s Godmother.

Moroney also announced Scenic Group has five more custom-built vessels on the orderbook over the next six years in Croatia, but did not elaborate on a timeline.

"All vessels will be of the highest 6-star standard with the ability to navigate the polar regions," he said.
