The Scenic Group is suspending all river and ocean cruises, and land tour operations until 31AUG as part of its ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The suspension includes Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, Emerald Waterways, and Evergreen Cruises & Tours. Scenic Eclipse sailings are further suspended through 30SEP, 2020.

"Although we see some easing of national lockdowns and progress being made on COVID-19 measures, the restrictions on travel still vary considerably from country to country, making it difficult to navigate," said Rob Voss, COO for The Scenic Group.

"There is also a need for the further development of industry-wide health protocols that will truly work. Suspending operations through 31AUG, 2020 just makes sense as it allows more time for those protocols to be developed and gives our guests enough notice to better plan for their future travels.”

The Scenic Group is offering booked guests Future Travel Credits (FTC) valued at 110% and 100% for affected land tours, including Egypt. Guests can apply the credit on any of the brands through 30JUN, 2023, a full 36 months. The credit is fully transferable. Should a guest be unable to travel by 30JUN, 2023, they will be given a cash refund equal to the amount that was paid.

The Scenic Group says it will protect travel advisor commissions on bookings for suspended cruises that have been paid in full and for the total amount of the Future Travel Credit.

On 15MAY, 2020, Open Jaw edited the story to clarify that Scenic will offer a refund only if the guest does not use the FTC by JUN 2023. At that point, a refund would be generated. There is no allocation of a refund until that date.
