MSC Cruises has extended its pause in U.S.-based sailings through 30APR.

This affects three ships based in Florida: MSC Divina, scheduled to sail from Port Canaveral, and MSC Meraviglia and MSC Armonia, both scheduled to sail from PortMiami.

MSC says guests who have paid in full automatically receive a 125 per cent Future Cruise Credit, but can request a refund.

and Captain Massa, Master of MSC Grandiosa, at MSC Virtuosa’s flag ceremony.

The suspension announcement comes just several days after MSC took delivery of MSC Virtuosa, the fourth Meraviglia-class vessel.

A small and private flag ceremony was held on 01FEB at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France, where MSC Virtuosa received her official flag and blessings for good fortune. The ceremony was attended in-person by MSC’s executive chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, and his family, as well as representatives from MSC’s new builds team and executives and workers from the shipyard.

“My family and I could not miss this opportunity to welcome in person the newest member to our fleet. The delivery of MSC Virtuosa at such a challenging time for our industry symbolizes how as a family company we continue to look at the longer term and build our future,” said Vago.

MSC Virtuosa is scheduled to come into service on 16APR, with cruises in the Mediterranean before moving to Kiel for Northern Europe itineraries starting 08MAY.

The ship features a range of technology and equipment that minimizes its environmental impact, from reduced emissions to innovative wastewater-treatment systems.

The Meraviglia generation ships are characterized by a 101-metre-long promenade with an LED sky dome as the social heart of the ship. The two-deck space is lined with boutiques, restaurants and bars.

Besides the launch of MSC Virtuosa, this year will also see the launch MSC Seashore in AUG, bringing MSC’s fleet total to 19, with a further four ships to be launched by 2025.
