Regent’s Incredible Investment


With Seven Seas Explorer arriving shortly, Regent’s first new ship in 13 years, the brand is investing like never before to ensure a high level of consistency continues across the fleet.

The project kicks off with a $40 million renovation of Navigator in April followed by Seven Seas Voyager in October and  Seven Seas Mariner in April 2017.

Announcements on renovations are a dime a dozen in this business and tend to be overlooked because of it. But Alex Sharpe, president/CEO of Signature Travel Network, says cruise sellers shouldn’t overlook the impact of Regent Seven Seas’ $125 million fleet-wide refurbishment program. He calls it “astronomical.”
“I think the number gets lost in all of the other announcements about refurbs, where people throw around big numbers across multiple ships,” Sharpe says. “When you put this number in perspective, with a relatively small physical plant, it is an astronomical investment, especially for the ship that has always received the best ratings in their fleet.”
Sharpe notes that as cruise lines expand, it is more critical than ever that they pull the new ships along with them at their original standards. “In this case, I truly believe the  Navigator will be better, post dry-dock, than at any other time—including when she was launched in 1999.”

Company leadership recently took press on Navigator to explain the upcoming changes. “Some people say we’re refurbishing a ship; that’s why we wanted to bring press on to truly show the level of degree,” explained president/COO Jason Montague.

“Once we complete this renovation with Mariner in April 2017, every single suite and public space will be touched,” said Montague.
