For superstitious folks, this was the flight from hell. But it was actually the flight to HEL – Helsinki that is.
The fact that this particular Finnair flight from CPH carried the designation AY666 – yes, the number of the beast – took off on Friday, October 13th just added drama.
But we’re pleased to tell you that the flight landed safely, punctually and entirely without incident.
It won’t happen again, though. AY is retiring the flight number at the end of this month, despite the fact that it has been operating without a hitch for over a decade. The numeral 666 is known as the devil’s number, from references in the Book of Revelations.
For reasons unknown, Finnair has decided to turn flight 666 into flight 954, which takes all the fun out of it, but will likely make some pax fly a little easier.
