Alaska Lets Pax Wielding Starbucks Holiday Cups Board Via ‘Espresso’ Lane

Have coffee, will board?
The ubiquitous Starbucks holiday-themed cups now offer Alaska passengers special privileges.
Between Thursday and Sunday this week, AS is offering priority boarding to passengers holding the coffee giant’s signature red and green coffee cups. Those pax can lineup in a designated "espresso" lane (although boarding first is still reserved for first-class pax).
The promotion doesn't stop at boarding: Alaska said some passengers will find Starbucks treats on their seats.
The airline said holiday cup-holding pax don't even have to be drinking a seasonal holiday drink from Starbucks -- regular coffee or water will do. And the cups can even be empty, the airline said, if passengers finish their drink before their flight boards.
Starbucks locations at SFO, ATL and MSP aren't using holiday cups because they are testing out special compostable cups, so for customers in those locations, the airline said it allows holiday cup sleeves from Starbucks instead.
This isn't the first fun boarding promo launched by Alaska Airlines.
This fall, it offered the same boarding privileges to passengers wearing jerseys of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who is a company spokesman. Last year, it let passengers board early if they wore ugly Christmas sweaters.
